Technicolor’s work recognized at Genie and Jutra Awards

Montréal, Canada - April 15, 2009 - Thomson (Euronext Paris: 18453; NYSE: TMS), through its Technicolor Business Group, today announced that it’s Canadian sound services team was honored with a total of five awards at the Genie and Jutra Award galas, two of Canada’s most prestigious awards honouring Canada’s cinematic achievements.

During the Genie Awards gala, which was held in Ottawa on Saturday, April 4, Technicolor artist, Steve Foster, was recognized for his work on the film Passchendaele , in the category of ‘Achievement in Overall Sound’. The work by filmmaker Paul Gross was crowned the big winner of the night, picking up a total of six awards, including ‘Best Motion Picture’. Technicolor provided end-to-end services for this film, with the front end dailies, 2K DI, sound mix and film and video deliverables being done in Toronto, all VFX work was done in Vancouver, and release printing in Montreal.

Technicolor’s sound services team was also honoured at the Jutra awards on March 29, where sound mixers Gavin Fernandes and Louis Gignac of Technicolor Creative Services (Montréal) won awards in the category of ‘Achievement in Sound’ for their work on the film Babine . During the Jutra Awards, two other Technicolor artists, Dominique Chartrand and Olivier Calvert, won awards in the same category.

The Genie Awards were established in 1979 and recognize and celebrate Canada’s cinematic achievements each year. The Jutra Awards were established in 1999 to honor the talent in and from the Canadian region of Quebec.
