Mr Hulot’s Holiday in the film festivals of La Rochelle and Bologna.

7/1/2009

Bologna – June 29th, 2009

The restored version of Jacques Tati’s film is starting its world wide tour of film festivals. On June 27th, the film has been screened during an exceptional event at the 37th International Film Festival of La Rochelle.

The screening was followed by a free outdoor concert in the port of La Rochelle. The Tati Concert has been organized and funded by Fondation Groupama Gan and Thomson Foundation, by the Film Festival of La Rochelle and by the Francofolies. Surrounded by images and sound remix from Mr Hulot’s Holiday, Matthieu Chedid and the band of Le Sacre du Tympan played music from Jacques Tati’s film in front of an audience of more 7000 spectators.

On July 1st, the film will be projected in Bologna (Italy) during the Il Cinema Ritrovato Festival which showcases the most important restored films of the year. The screening will take place outdoor in the Piazza Maggiore in front of thousands of people.

«After that the restoration was over, it was important for us to make the film as street performance and to share it with large audiences”, declare Séverine Wemaere of Thomson Foundation and Gilles Duval of Fondation Groupama Gan.

The restoration of Mr Hulot’s Holiday, fully funded and managed by Fondation Groupama Gan and Thomson Foundation, has been made at Technicolor Creative Services(Thomson) in Los Angeles with les Films de Mon Oncle (right owners) and with the support of Cinémathèque française.

The restored version of the film releases in France on July 1st, 2009 (Carlotta).
